Bryan Ferry (2009)
Sequins on canvas
90 x 90cm

I love Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry, but I also love Robert Rauschenberg and Robert Ryman, and other Minimalist painters of the 20th century, who inspired the minimalism in music that was to follow. This is an affectionate parody of those Minimalist painters, using a monochrome(ish) fabric, which is far from Minimalist in its connotations, just as Roxy Music were far from Minimalist in their music. The sequined fabric changes its tone depending on the light of the room, reflecting the chameleon nature of Roxy Music and their fondness of sequins.
